In three cases of supratentorial astrocytomas, initial CT with contrast revealed no abnormality. The interval between the first negative scan and subsequent positive scan was 6 to 20 weeks. The reason for the false-negative scans are obscure. In occasional cases other diagnostic tests, i.e., EEG, may give clues to the presence of the tumor.
